Join us for a closing reception at Napoleon, Sunday August 26, 2012 for a final look of Pleased To Meet You. This exhibition introduces three new Napoleon members: Alexis Nutini, Christina P. Day and Matt Ziemke. All three artists collect and reinterpret elements from real world experiences into new configurations that examine memory and place.
From the print-based and layered stencil work of Alexis Nutini, intertwining figures, inverted perspectives and radical scale shifts expose personal elements of his bi-cultural life, revealing his vision of a world without boundaries. Through solid construction and collage, Christina Day mismatches surface, place and space, illustrating experiences of continuous place that are recalled in a fixed, constructed view. Matt Ziemke questions the implications of processes and structures that make up our built and natural environments as they define the places we inhabit through structure and chance, position and material.
Pleased to Meet You serves as an introduction of these artists to the NAPOLEON audience as well as a preview of their upcoming solo shows.
