Our Own José A. Ortiz Pagán in an ‘El Dia Ponte’ Article

Grabados, Gritos y Atropellos

In an article about Ortiz Pagán, the writer Anna Gamboa interviews the artist about his work, why he moved to Philadelphia from Puerto Rico, and about the New Philly Ink show by the Brandywine Shop.

In the article, Jose Ortiz Pagán is quoted as saying:

Era importante para mi encontrar un medio que fuera muy accesible para todo el mundo, porque quería hablar de problemas que tiene todo el mundo.

It was important to me to find a medium that was accessible to the whole world because I wanted to talk about the problems the whole would has.

We’re proud to have such a passionate artist in our ranks and that he has received this beautiful coverage from El Dia Ponte.

Ortiz Pagán is curating a show of work by Grimaldi Baez for this coming March at NAPOLEON.

Baez and Ortiz Pagán, along with Gustavo Garcia, Colin Foley, Veronica Hanssens and Alex Kirillov, are the artist on exhibit in New Philly Ink in the lobby gallery of 728 South Broad Street on the Avenue of the Arts South.  There will be a  closing reception and dialogue on the “State of Printmaking in Philly” Friday, February 8, 2013 starting at 6:00 PM.  The event is free.
