TheArtBlog.org Covers ‘A Cemi Waste of Macho Time’

Sam Newhouse of TheArtBlog reviews Grimaldi Baez’s show at NAPOLEON

Newhouse comments on the woodcuts that permeate the show. “The sense of velocity and strength in the cuts of these prints speaks to the artist’s emotional connection to his subject.”

Additionally, Newhouse sees the content of the installation as “a small temple in honor of the late Hector “Macho” Camacho,” and sees the exhibition as commenting on “the mythological context of modern day hero-worship as it relates to celebrities like Camacho [as] both interrogated and celebrated here.”
