GLEANERS//INFORMERS: Heather Riley, Brian Spies, and Mauro Zamora

GLEANERS // INFORMERS
An exhibition curated by NAPOLEON member Liza Coviello
Is there beauty in destruction? Is art an intentional call to action? GLEANERS // INFORMERS, creates a space for questioning assumptions about the role of art in daily life and of the artist’s influence on citizen action. Artist-citizens Heather Riley, Brian Spies and Mauro Zamora harness both the beauty and vulgarity of nature and man to create works that are simultaneously visually stunning and socially and politically provocative. By highlighting the feedback loop between the artistic process and viewer reception, the exhibit invites us to rethink the cognitive and physical distance between art and action, environment and development, artist and audience.
