Thomas Dexter: TIME(AFTER)TIME
Recent Video Works by Artist Thomas Dexter Curated by NAPOLEON member Christina P. Day
Dexter’s films explore temporality and representation against the backdrop of the digital present. Utilizing found footage, extensively re-timed and densely composited, TIME(AFTER)TIME imagines a digital eternalism that collapses linear narrative and spatial hierarchies into an endlessly cycling present-tense.
Thomas Dexter is a moving image and sound artist based in NYC and Chicago. Dexter’s solo and collaborative projects have been featured at Microscope Gallery, Experimental Intermedia, PS1/MOMA, Roulette, The New York Museum of Art and Design, Sight and Sound Festival, Issue Project Room, the Mononoaware Festival, The Lesley Heller Workspace, Kunsthalle Galapagos, and ESP TV among others.
