Amy Boone-McCreesh: I Come in Peace

I Come in Peace
A solo-exhibition by Baltimore-based artist Amy Boone-McCreesh, winner of the NAPOLEON 2016 Open Call
I Come in Peace is an exhibition that creates a maximal immersive environment through the use of an embellished visual vocabulary. The human desire to demarcate important moments in history is a timeless act, and yet decoration is so commonly associated with frivolity, luxury, and bad taste. In this exhibition, Boone-McCreesh presents individual works on paper and wall hangings as vehicles for a deeper understanding of human aesthetics. The combination of her digital means of repetition and her painstaking hand generated imagery explore parallels between mass production and human creations, questioning the value in both, and the visual pleasures of excess.
