Joan Oh: SHOE AVENUE

A solo-exhibition by Joan Oh
THIS EXHIBITION WILL BE HELD AT PILOT PROJECTS
1719 N 5th St, Philadelphia, PA 19122
NAPOLEON, in conjunction with Pilot Projects, is pleased to announce SHOE AVENUE. Joan Oh’s first solo show of new photographs and ceramic sculptures will examine the phenomenon of hypebeast culture and advertising within an online market economy. Titled after the artist’s family sneaker store, SHOE AVENUE, the exhibition presents itself as an endorsement for the business while interpreting the branding of bodily gestures and posing found in ad campaigns.
Joan Oh received her MFA in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Pennsylvania and BFA in Photography at the Corcoran School of Art + Design. Using various mediums such as photography, video, and ceramics, Joan characterizes her work by generating diverse and playful meanings to create her own method of social inquiry. She currently lives and works in Philadelphia.
