Win a solo exhibition in Summer 2019!

Every year, during the month of July, NAPOLEON presents a solo-exhibition selected by our members from a pool of applicants collected through an open call. If you would like to show with our gallery, we highly recommend you apply for this call.

The winner of the Open Call will receive a $500 honorarium to help defer the costs associated with the show.

Writers Wanted!

We’re looking to add a few more names to our list of potential writers for our recent endeavor: Exhibition Essays.  Art historians, artists, and curators will be paired with upcoming exhibitions in an effort to extend the conversation at work in the gallery.  We anticipate a lively exchange of critique between writer and artist and hope that the accompanying essay may offer a deeper interpretation for the visiting audience to consider.  While there is no formal compensation for the essay, your piece will be published online here at our website, attached to email blasts about the show, and available to visitors in the gallery.

If you’re interested in writing, please email napoleon.philadelphia@gmail.com with a short bio which includes your art interests and an attached CV.  If you have a writing sample, please send it along, too.  This will be a rolling application–there is no due date.

Please take a look at the essays we have put forth thus far.

There is no format a writer must adhere to and we encourage you to be as creative as you’d like so long as you engage with the work and the artists showing in the exhibition.
